But did you use a concave or convex meniscus?  I guess if you did 10 or so
readings using both and averaged the readings, maybe?

I turned the head upside down, and used a pipette to run in a volume  
of water until the chamber is full.  Not perfect I know as you are  
supposed to place some plexi or glass on the cylinder head to give the  
water a place to stop.  But it's close enough..
