Oh, absolutely, no disagreement there! That is YOUR money that the
Government to guarantee you what was promised. However, from that initial
concept, Congress has added so many other things that pay for entitlements
NOT covered by that social compact, and to pay to people who have not put
money into an account! At the same time, Government *confiscates* money
deposited if the employee does not meet its new requirements. My wife, for
example was not covered by Social Security when teaching. She did have
money that was taken for non-teaching jobs. But because she had
accumulated only 39 of the 40 quarters required, she is denied any Social
Security benefits, *and* the Government will not return the money it
confiscated!
As far as your promised benefits from being in the RAF, well you know how
the taxpayer in England is being screwed right and left by the socialists
of New Labour. AND they are taking away more and more retirement benefits
every year (just last month, "stay at home mothers".
