They started adding roundabouts here in Davis years ago.  There was an 
initial adjustment period, but now they are fairly well accepted and I 
happen to like them.  As long as everyone knows the routine, they help 
smooth traffic flow and reduce T-bone collisions.  The one on 5th St. by the 
retirement home can get a bit irritating when an ultra-cautious silverback 
comes to a full stop at the entrance to an empty circle.  Just have to 
anticipate and trust the disc brakes.  The other little issue is the 
adjacent bus stop that disgorges loads of students with their "I'm immortal" 
mindset to walk directly across the entire circle without even looking at 
the oncoming cars.  Gonna bag me one of them some day and make the rest of 
the herd more cautious.
