Brad,
First... Flattery will get you alost everything... <G>
Second, NONE of my dizzy caps have "Lucas" on them. So they may not be
original equipment. They might be after market items - even tho' they were
made in the UK. Anyone on the list know for sure??? Frank?? Paul??
I'm thinking yours probably are original...
But you ARE welcome to one of mine if you need it. Like I said.. they are
nice and shiny <G>
Third, I once joined the local British Car Club - for one year... many BIG
BNx Healeys, several XK-E types and a few XK120/140's. I didn't fit in due
to Income and social status differences - I'm on Social Security and live in
an old, small house in the 'not so desireable' part of town!! It doesn't worry
me.
Most of the past 12 years I have entered in the local 'Show and Shine' called
"Cool Desert Nights' which usually has between 400 and 500 entrants from
most everywhere west of the Mississippi. It has a 'Rock and Roll' theme and
is for US made cars of the '50's and 60's, T-Buckets, A-rods, etc.
Except for 1 year; I have nearly always been the lone SBC entrant... I used
to be lucky enough to park next to a very friendly older gent who had a very
nice '57 T-Bird. He was 72 and the original owner. He told me his wife gave
him the choice of the car or her. He picked the car. Sadly, he passed away
two years ago.
.
But it used to be great fun to have the hood up, showing my little 4-banger,
next to a piece of Detroit Iron with a honking great 454 V-8, Chrome
everything even the Holley's, Superchargers, headers, plumbing, etc, and
I'd proudly proclaim "Yep! 47 HP at the flywheel - if it's a good day!" And the
looks on Kids faces when you tell them "Go ahead and sit in it".
It's somewhere between a 'beater' and a 'work in progress' but it will never
be a show car...
I do remember there was a GTO one year that had a lot of GOLD plated
items... Alternator, Air filter, Oil Separator, Brake Vacuum unit --- if it was
metal it was Gold Plated!! Not quite my style.
Last, but not least, does any one know if Honda Civic seats will fit in a '65
Spridget?? (Gasp!!!)... I can quite a pair of these from the local Wrecker's
yard..
