Hey, you omitted my explanation of what a real starter solenoid is. Some
are both relay/solenoid (GM) and some (mostly Ford) have a solenoid on the
starter and a relay that they call a "solenoid" that mounts on the firewall
and is really a relay.
Most non LBC starters I've ever seen have a solenoid for the gear engagement
and a relay for the current handling.
