You can use a pair of channel lock pliers to get the nut off. The trick is
to put the channel in the pliers over one of the studs. You only get a
small arc of movement, but it is enough to loosen the nut. You can also
loosen it with a hammer and drift. Don't forget to bend the tab washer
back.
DISCLAIMER: I know that pliers aren't the best tool for this job. BUT,
finding and buying a 1-5/16(IIRC) socket isn't easy or cheap.
