[Spridgets] Stretching a top and toneau

I have an old toneau cover and a brand new top.  For some reason, both fit
very tight (actually, they barely fit at all).  Any tips for getting them to
stretch a bit?  I've tried putting them out in the direct sunlight on a 90+
degree day and it didn't seem to help.
