Jack,
Oil pumps seem to be a bit of a problem these days. I just went thru a stack
of old ones to find the best for a race motor I put together last weekend.
The quality of new pumps varies lot.
They wear on the soft back aluminum case where the steel gears ride on.
There also are different thickness pumps. I've had to clearance the case of
some.
Did you Plastigauge the bearings during assembly? New cam bearings?

Told wife about problem, she say so pull the engine, this is supose to be a
hobby. She is thinking, this will keep him out of trouble for awile longer,
hehe.
Oil is clean as if it just came from the can. Castrol GTX 20-50.
Popoff looks fine, seat is good.
Guage is spot on at 20,40, and 50 pounds.
Guess it has to be the pump. How the heck do they wear out. What wears? How
long does a raceing engine pump last? Have you guesed by now I wish to learn
about pumps?
Is there a heavy duty one?
