Fact of the matter is, you should wear a mask WHENEVER using a media
blaster.

I have an industrial unit.  It had a sticker saying to "...wear a mask when
using this equipment".

Some materials (media) are more harmful than others...PLUS what is it that's
being cleaned off?!?  You never know.

Dust particles float around; subsequently into your lungs.
