Yeah, the A-series engine is about one generation ahead of a tractor
motor. They are pretty tough.
Racers don't expect 50,000 miles from a motor, though. However, on a
tight budget, they do reuse many components.
I would do the 20 minute break-in, change oil, and then drive the
first few hundred miles a little more conservatively, like no extended
periods of WOT, no drastic downshifting. You know, drive for fun, but
not like Mario Andretti.
I think Frank speaks from experience that you can run it hard right
out of the box. But, Frank can probably rebuild a 1275 in about 4
hours, start to finish.
Careful assembly is the key to a good re-build, no matter how you
choose to break it in.
