Confusing! I've got as many replies saying No T'stat as I have replies 
saying to
us a T'stat. Wot's a feller to do??  BTW - what was in there was a 180, 
and ran
great over the last 10 years or so. It opens at about 185-190 or so, 
depending
on whether you believe my thermometer.

Re: the cap screws -- the fine-thread nuts go on and off treat. Is it 
worth  trying
to remove the studs which will probably break off inside? Or is this better
left till the studs actually die of their own accord??

The weather here in NC has cooled down bunches and I want to be driving
this thing again SOON.
