I was mentioning to Biff Jones the other day that two things should be
given thought to even before a site is selected:
1. Starting to gather some donations so there is some cash to work
with. Neither one person nor a small committee should be expected to
front the not-insignificant costs that there will be before any money
can be collected. To that end, I would be most willing to kick in a
hundred bucks to get an ktty going,.
2. Some thought needs to be given to locating and hopefully borrowing
some mailing lists of Sprite owners. Bulk mailing DOES pay off. People
may call it junk mail, but for something that people are interested in,
the rewards can be great. There will be a need to obtain a bulk mailing
permit to allow these mailings to be made at less than first class
rates!!!! I am quite sure that Austin-Healey organizations, both
national and local would have computerized lists that hopefully they
would contribute at cost. Again, if work on mailing lists waits until a
site is selected, it will be too late to generate the best possible returns.
