In trying to drop > the rear axle Hal If you are only replacing the 1/2 shaft, you do not have to drop the axle. Pull the drums, remove the axle screw, pull out the axles. If you get lucky, you can pop out the busted piece with a broom stick from the other side. and/or magnet on a stick. If it drops in the diff, you have to pull the diff.
