You might have a faulty gauge. If the bearings are good but the pump is bad when you switch off the engine it ought to take some seconds for the gauge to go from about 5psi to zero. On the other hand if the oil pressure goes from about 5 psi to zero just like that then I'd say the bearings are bad.
