I have to request vacation in August the previous year.  I have Aug 1-14 
scheduled since last August.  The railroad probably won't let me change 
to a week earlier, but I'll ask.  I have a week of floating vacation but 
they don't like to put it on either end of the scheduled vacation.  
Someone needs to make the dates firm so I and others on the list can 
make plans and requests from our employers.
