What I've done with both my choke and starter cable is to use the knob and the
rod the knob is attached to, and soldered on a new cable (you could probably
use wire if the HIF44 requires something stiffer). it takes a bit of patience
but is doable and dependable. You can also find the outer cable from various
sources and attach this to the stock outer jacket tube, the part that attaches
the cable to the dash. I have one of the cables on my car that is a
conglomeration of THREE different cables, all of which had 1 correct component
to add to the equation. The inner cable, if cable is what you want, is
available at hardware stores, just use the cable they sell for putting on the
back of picture frames fro hanging them, best stuff you could hope to find.
