Sounds like you may have gotten the manual rather than the automatic Metro
rad.
Assuming same CFM, you do better with an electric fan from behind rather
than in front of the rad., but either will work.
If running no mechanical fan, then behind
for sure.
Or, you just might go to the "late" multi-bladed plastic fan, which gives
greater
pitch at low speeds (more airflow) and flattens out a bit (less airflow/drag) at
higher rpms and go with "in front"
electric for supplemental airflow for low-speed (in traffic) cooling.
