Hook the line from the flame arrester/oil
separator to the carb. Acquire and run a vented oil cap in place of the current
"non-
vented" type.
If there is a valve cover "takeoff" from
the valve cover to the cannister, use this
as a crankcase vent (cut off the tiny graduated orifice at the end, assuming
this
exists) and run a hose down the engine
vertically toward the ground.
The foregoing should "vent" the crankcase
sufficiently to prevent pressure from building within and forcing oil out the
seals or dipstick hole. If not, you may have a
"blow-by" problem due to worn rings, bores, etc.
Remove the cannister altogether and cap
all small lines at the firewall coming from the fuel system. Acquire a vented
fuel cap
to replace the existing "non-vented" type.
You are now running 1950's style in terms of a "vented" crankcase and fuel
system.
Worked then and it works now....as long
as you don't have to pass any state emissions tests, that is! :)
