I got keys made for my 1972 at Ace Hardware. Both ignition and door/trunk
keys. They have a book that lets you look up the car and tells you what
blanks to use. For the ignition they used an Ilco AA2 X51 which was intended
for some kind of Nissan. For the other key they used a Taylor 64. When I got
home the other key did not work. I matched them up and it looked perfect. I
put it into the lock and realized that the new key had a piece beyond where
the cutting was that prevented it from going as far into the lock as the
original did. I grabbed my dremel and in 15 seconds it worked perfectly. It
is almost embarrassing how cheap it is to have a key cut at Ace.
