Following up on a comment on the list a few months ago, I checked the model
number of the distributor on our 1975 Midget as it was not original. The
Lucas 25D on the car is a 41181 made 1167. It looks like it is off of an
Austin 1100 of 1967/68 vintage.
For you experts out there a few questions:
- should the point gap still be set at the typical .014 to .016 ?
- are the centrifugal weights / springs correct or should they be adjusted.
- is the vacuum advance correct
- does any of the above really make that much difference?
