Last year I had a custom bracket for a SPAX rear shock break. I had it welded
back together by a friend. It lasted a year, ending last week. Instead of
trying to re-do it (again) I opted to replace it with a stock bracket, used in
the "upside down and backwards" fashion that others have done. I added a $1.04
collection of hardware from the Home Depot, and the car is back on the road. I
did have to drill out the hole in the bracket a tiny bit, to receive a 1/2"
bolt. And, to duplicate the fatter center section of a "proper" bolt, I
wrapped a 1" x 6" bit of aluminum flashing around the bolt, for the bushes to
sit on. It all seems to be at least as stable as the "custom" side.
