Others are more knowledgeable than I, but I can tell you that the car is not and never was a Bugeye. The back end is quite different between the Bugeye and the later Sprites and Midgets. It would appear to be an after-market one-piece front end. You do have the crossflow radiator, the side-curtain doors and the removable top which indicate that it is pre-1967.
