Jerry,
If you look back at the responses that you go the first time around, you 
will see that one of the suggestions is that your fuel pump is not moving 
enough volume to keep up with demand. I doubt that the carb leak is the 
problem, although it should be fixed right away, Especially since it is 
right over the exhaust manifold.
Are you still running the mechanical fuel pump on that? Could be normal 
wear, could be marginal diaphragm. No gasoline smell on the dipstick? good. 
Probably just pivot wear reducing the travel and hence the volume. Adequate 
for the low speed/low load situation, but not for WOT.
