Filling the smoothcase isn't that bad. First the bolt you are talking about
goes to the rear tranny mount. You can pour oil in there all day and never
fill the tranny or the tunnel as it will all end up on the floor. If you
look just in front that bolt there should be a rectangular rubber plug about
2"X3". On the side of the tunnel about where the "lift to fill" sign is on
the rubber mat. After you remove this plug you can see the filler bolt (it
looks just like the drain plug) and will be facing up. There is a trick to
getting the plug out unless you have really small hands. Use a socket and
extension to get the plug loose, then take a piece of 5/8" garden hose about
3" long and fit it over the end of the fill plug, use this to turn the plug
with your fingers and remove the plug. One of those funnels for automatic
trannys with the long tube on the end will help in filling the gear box to
the bottom of the threads with the same oil you use in the engine. The
garden hose will really help in getting the fill plug started, pull it off
and use the socket and extension to tighten the plug and replace the rubber
plug and your done.
