Time for an american/english phrase explanation. 'I'll let you know how I get on' or 'Let me know how you get on' are simply common phrases used in England all the time. The phrase has nothing to do with physical movement and could be just as easily expressed as 'let me know how things turn out' or let me know how things work out' or just let me know what happens.
