a good all-around compromise would be
what the manufacturer used in later cars...
the 1/2" (or 9/16") bar...in the interests of
"safety", considering the average American
driver is not comfortable with oversteer.....
witness what happened to the Corvair!!
And the Corvair was about as "unsafe" as
a VW Bug, though GM probably should have produced the car (for general
consumption, anyway) with a camber
compensator to keep the (generally)
ham-handed "average" American driver
from killing himself through ignorance
and/or "insensitivity"!! :):)
I'd respectfully suggest you try the stock later 9/16th bar first and see how
you like
it. You can always go heavier but there is
a world of difference between the 9/16" and 3/4", which is way more stiff and

I personally would recommend for guys
doing 99% higher-speed limited access highway work, the steering getting pretty
"heavy" at lower speeds.
