Here's another little trick I just learned about 1/2 hr ago... Bill/Will Perry don't use a gasket on the end plate of a 1275, just lots of RTV, and it doesn't leak. It also makes the plate a bit of a PIA to remove. You too can find this out if, after checking your rod bearings and doing a general inspection, you snap off the little 1/4-28 bolt that holds the oil strainer into the rear main bearing cap, and you now have to remove the rear bearing cap to drill it out.
