You can do that on a Chevy, but not a spridget.  If you don't have enough
large boxes to change the ring gear, get real cheap and turn the flywheel 90
deg on the crank as most of the wear is where the pistons usually stop with
one set up and the other down, 1/4, 2/3.

The list will confirm or deny this, but haven't I heard you can remove the  
ring gear from the flywheel and turn  it over?  Maybe I dreamed  this.
 
Let me know if you find a shop that will work for big boxes as I can get a  
lot of these cheap.
