Phil...

Pull the stacks and measure an intake
port across and there you go as to whether
it's a 40 or 45.

Pick up Dave Vizard's book on Series A engines to get an idea of the settings
used
for stock, modified 1275's. This will give you
a starting point for your tuned motor.

You're going to need an intake manifold so
(to fit the Series A head intake ports)
give a buzz to APT for a good Maniflow item. They can also supply you with the
Weber jets, emulsion tubes, chokes, and
new K&N filter. There is not much "side"
room in the Midget engine compartment
for the sidedraft, so get the less deep
filter rather than the 3" deep one. If you
need to go to shorty stacks, so be it.

Alternatively, you can use longer stacks and/or the longer (6") intake man.
and/or
the 3" deep filter but you'll need to do a
little body work on the left fender well and
hood rain gutter to get it all to fit with a
5-6" intake manifold.

Talk to APT about the throttle cable hookups you may need depending upon
what your carb came with. Alternatively, do
a websearch on Pierce Manifolds as they
have a variety of throttle cable hookups
to choose from.

When you send the Mallory dizzy out to the
factory for refurbishing, have them fit a
PerTronix to it. PerTronix makes a module
for your Mallory.

Lastly, Webers/SK's can be a bit problematic
in tuning as to jet sizes, etc. A good investment in this respect would be a K&N
A/F ratio set-up complete with heated
oxygen sensor. Makes jetting for your application a helluvlot easier...takes the
guesswork/frustration out of it.
