Restart checklist

The most recent project is a 74 Midget that I'm told hasn't run in 5
years.  After solving ignition switch problems, adding a good battery,
checking fluids and somehow arranging a new fuel source to avoid the gas
tank, what are the do's and don't's of getting this car restarted.  What
should I look for and be careful not to cause more harm?
