The lock tabs for the 948 and 1098 are the same, you can use a 1098 flywheel
with the 984 crank and a 948 flywheel on a 1098 crank. The problem you have
is strange if other than the above statement is true. The solution is really
easy anyway, never use the lock tabs on either. Blue thread locker is the
way to go on the flywheel bolts without the lock tabs. If you really want to
do the job right, use new ARP bolts as well.
Crash
Ok once more I'm baffled. Ordered replacement lock tabs for my 1098 flywheel
bolts. Got 'em and they don't fit. They fit a 948 flywheel bolt bolt pattern
but not the 1098. I assumed they were the same since the "parts" catalog
seemed to indicate they were interchangeable. My mistake. If regular 'ol
lock washers would work why the fancy double lock tabs? So where can I get
lock tabs that will fit the larger bolt pattern of the 1098...or...what can
I use as a substitute that will keep the flywheel as permanently attached as
Austin intended?
