Hi folks, I am trying to find a source for the chromed aluminum as used in the grill surround in Sprites and Midgets (although I believe Midgets were painted black at some point in their production.) I found something called Albright from Alcoa, but that stuff appears to be plate rather than sheet metal. The stuff must be common in that it was used in Sprites. I know new pieces can be purchased, but I am toying with a "make-it-yourself" plan - just because I think I would enjoy the challenge of making my own. I estimate a piece about 12 by 30 inches should be enough. I don't want to have to purchase a truckload. A guy at a sheet metal shop (industrial stuff) suggested a sign shop might have the plated (?) aluminum. Architectural applications might be another place this stuff is used. Background information about this stuff along with sources for purchase would be appreciated. Thanks.
