I FINALLY got the head back
from the shop today.
Initially, I felt that the new
valve guides would be the most
promising solution to the
smoking problem. Now a few
days ago, there was mention,
by Soave if I recall
correctly, about smoking due
to head gasket failure near an
oil passage. Just to be on the
safe side, I have some copper
spray gasket in a can. The
instructions say to spray the
flange surfaces. Is this the
head and the block deck?? Also
the bolt threads?? And of
course the gasket. It says to
wait 30 seconds between coats,
to allow it to dry. So, how
many coats does one put on the
head gasket, as well as all
the other mentioned surfaces?
It is my intention to do this
tomorrow evening when I get
home from work. I figure 2
hours should be plenty of
time.
