Well, that was more fun than I thought it would be..... the responses, I mean.
Anyway, David's got the allusion correct. And I too thought it odd that the
ds would be keyed. So I took an extra ds and tranny and
for-whatever-reason, they don't mate well in all but one or two spots. I'm
glad I wasn't trying to install the d*mn thing up inside the tunnel. Last
time my arm, and armpit got so oily and cruddy I vowed not to do it
again.... and I didn't. It's not my car. Certainly on MY car, there
wouldn't be all that, um.. rust preventative present.
As an aside, this job was to R&R a very noisy and leaky tranny in
a BE whose engine I assisted in refreshing last winter. The car had since
done over 3000 miles. No drips. Paul A's rear crank repair is working
wonderfully. I highly recommend it.
