More electrics... pos to neg conversion..

OK, So the bugeye runs, soon it will stop and shift gears too BUT 
before I bugger up to much:

        The "Ignition" light stays on while the car idles..  is that what it 
is supposed to do

        The car is Neg ground but I am not sure of the connections for the 
fuel gauge, what goes where..

        Anything else I should know about?
