I got on to this thread really late so lemme axt a silly question:  Is
this a new ring gear and are you sure it's the right one for your
flywheel??  Ring gears for 948, 1098, and 1275 each have very slightly
different inside diameters.  You can't heat/cool enough to match up
incompatible rings/flywheels.  Been there, done that, found out the hard
way.
