Hey, Chris....
I know nothing about 1500's or their cams
but I am sure you will get responsi from
those on the Spitfire list who run "tuned"
units or this cam, and will know what the problem may be.
My guess is insufficient advance or rate
of advance before the cam
starts coming in but this is only a wild
guess, as without the exhaust system,
you are probably getting little (if any)
extraction effect....which might very
well lead to dilution of the incoming
charge with residual exhaust gases at
rpms below that wherein the cam "comes
in", and efficient scavenging
of exhuast gases would be minimal.
I don't know...just guessing.
