a few choices!
beat on them with a hammer using something that sits inside the hole of the
shaft for the joint's cap as not to deform that hole at all!
or theever popular "heat" A-LA-torch . heating the shaft's loop around the
cap sp it expands , releasing the cap.
of course you could use a hydraulic press , but when they finally let go
under pressure in a press they sometimes hit the opposite side of the loop
in the driveshaft bending it.
now ya could use a universal joint press (hey! i's got one'a dem here!)
wich isa darn slick piece of equiptment.......
now if it's really very rusty try taking some 80 grit sand paper and lightly
clean out the loop thatt he u-joint cap goes into to facilitate reassembly
and while apart clean out the snap ring groove so it positivly seats in the
groove, retaining the cap! nothing messes up yer day more than going for
the test drive and hearing a very loud "BANG" asa cap nails the underside of
the car while being thrown out at speed! let alone you ge tto do the same
job all over again!

chuck
been there, broke that......
