My thanks for the many responses I received from my questions on
pre-oiling a fresh 1275. It seems just about all were in total
agreement. I even had a response from a nice man named Ed at Just Brits
who implied that he would help me if I had bought my parts from him.
Does anyone know where his business is located so that next time I can
send him my parts order?? Thanks again,
Jack

Fill the oil pump with oil. Remove the banjo bolt on the oil pipe and
pour some oil down there. It doesn't take much so keep an eye out as not
to oil up the side of the block. (don't ask ;)
Also I like to use a 5/30 oil to break it in. Run it for 20 minutes at
various RPMs, then change the oil and filter to 20/50.
Do it again at 500 miles when you retorque the head and adjust the
valves.
