Lester,

 From the perspective of an originality nut, my rec is to sell the 
transmission. Unless the car is crazy original, it's not going to be a 
factor in the value of the car down the road.

For a value on the box, unless you can prove it's condition, it's 
somewhat worthless since short of a tear-down, the only way to determine 
it's condition is to test it in a running car. If the buyer has tested 
it and it doesn't need the usual and common rebuild, maybe a few hundred?
