Hello Ralph,
had my 1098 rebuilt a couple of years ago, dependability being
my primary goal as well. i tend to drive more like americans
than europeans, so the high torque of the the 1098 seemed more
pleasing to me than the higher reving 1275. (i tend to putter
rather than wind)...
(from what i have been able to ascertain the torque of the 1275
and that of the 1098 are about equal)
for mods i chose just to go with a mild cam for more bottom to
mid range torque, again rather than high end stuff, and also
got an adjustable timing chain to go with. other than that, all
stock. ...
i'm happy.
