Hi David,
The rubber backed seal come out pretty easily with a screwdriver and hammer.
Try a seal puller first if you have one, otherwise just clamp the hub in a
vise and tap out the seal.
BUT!!! Some of these seals can be a real pain to remove, especially the
steel backed ones. Sometimes they need to be cut with a dremel tool to
weaken the edge so it can be collapsed inward and then popped out.
Sometimes an educated old screwdriver and a hammer will catch enough on it
to dislodge it. Don't worry about nicking the hub in getting out the lip
seal. You can put a tiny amount of sealant in that area before pressing in
the new seal. Never a problem with nicks and gouges leaking with that fix.
