Hi, Dick...
First of all, read Guy Weller's excellent
post on the subject as it "tells the tale"
such as it exists on the stock suspension,
and in any case toe-in is the first thing
to check. May I suggest you use 1/2
that which is recommended in the manual
for more "fun" handling at the cost of a bit
less directional stability (and "drag").
Now...DO do this with proper machinery
at a tire specialist BECAUSE you also
want to run a check on "camber" to be
sure it is stock on YOUR car (3/4 of a
degree on the "positive" side).
Some owners add minor mods (eccentric
upper bushings, fr'instance) for "0" or
a bit of "negative" camber to their otherwise stock suspensions for
better
handling (grip) in the corners. Fr'instance,
I run about 1/2 a degree negative camber
on my set-up. You can run up to about
2 degrees negative camber on a road car BUT...you
might also experience an "inside tire" wear pattern under these
circumstances.
