Not knowing how long this car sat dormant I wouldn't yet rule out sticky 
gummed up jets. I once purchased a car where I needed to drive the jets out of 
the 
carb bodies with the use of a drift. That was an extreme case where the car 
sat un-attended to for 10 years and the residual fuel gummed up everywhere 
within the system. This may not be the case here, but it does happen.
