I recently put in a 1275 and datsun tranny. I don't think the 1275 and datsun
weigh a lot more than the stock set up. But I used a block and tackle both
ways. I see no reason my the two guys and a 2 X 4 would be anymore difficult.
I had Gary Speckman help me, and just as it looked like it was going to bind
up and not clear the front frame, he fiddled around from inside the car and it
just dropped right in. The rear tranny mount does not have the same give as
the stock one and it took a little fiddling around (15 minutes) to get the
second long bolt from below to catch.
For some reason the U joint on the new tranny was hitting the drive shaft
tunnel, but a little creative work with sawzall and dent puller took care of
that. I had never heard of this problem before so it may have been specific to
my
car.
BTW I got my kit from Paul A and am not sure how the Rivergate differs.
Paul's kit was complete and he was very helpful in the process, as I had a bit
of
trouble getting the pilot bushing to seat, and had misplaced the U joint
conversion piece.
