But my '67 didn't have paper shims around the tube either, when I
disassembled it. I remember now, after a jog from Chuck, that there was an
electrical
tape type of material around the early rack I reconditioned and installed on my
'79 last year. I wasn't sure what it was, but replaced it with pieces of
rubber inner tube that I cut to fit.
