You, again!!!!
You're gonna start another "discussion",
eh!!
Yep, Antony....according to David Vizard
who ran empirical tests on his flow bench
on all types of filters, K&N came out on
top in terms of flow along with long term
filtering capability when used as directed
by the manufacturer.
It's an oil impregnated fabric-layered affair
and the element is cleanable and re-useable for many, many moons.
Today, the filter comes pre-oiled by the
factory, ready for immediate installation,
but without "sealing grease", a tube of
which you might want to order along with
the filter. Or, you can order along with the
filter a K&N filter servicing kit which contains a tube of sealing
grease, along with cleaner and filter oil (as eventually
you will be cleaning the filter in time).
I am currently running these in the standard carb/air cleaner set-up
in my 1293 Bugeye (Frogeye)
and used one for years on my PO'd
"tuned" Spridget equipped with 45 DCOE.
The use of "sealing grease" is optional but
IMHE, is a good idea to prevent entry of
minute particles by the minute gaps between filter "edges" and filter
case.
K&N filter cans are of excellent chrome
quality...definitely not the cheap stuff.
