I would recommend disconnecting the battery for at least 15 minutes.
Give the charge plenty of time to discharge.

Disconnect th battery for a minute or two and you'll be perfectly safe. 
The  air bag connector has a shorting bar in it so once it's 
disconnected it's extremely difficult to set off.
