Thanks! worked a treat. With a cooling system in place, I was able to
bed in the new cam per Ted Schumachers instructions, then take the
little beast for a short run around the back yard. The brake and clutch
hydraulics need to be bled again, but so far everything is working. It
won't run without the choke pulled out all the way, but that's the next
step. Now it's tuning time!
Dumb question time, but am I correct in assuming that you can't
statically time a Lucas Electronic ignition?

If I remember correctly, there are two mounting points, a front and a
rear.
I mounted the rear point on the tank with the front point on the car,
which
moved it up 2 inches.
