I have this engine here, it came with my latest bugeye (on the floor not
bolted in) The ID tag says... 8G 150 W 3653 and it has AA stamped under
the numbers.
Ok, so it's an 803 or an 850? Nope. All the characteristics of a 1098
but no 1098 or 1100 stamp or tag.
It has side lifter covers, 7.25" clutch, stamped steel front pully.
Now the weird stuff.....It has a blanked off (factory cast) fuel pump
block off, a 1275 type plastic dip stick tube, a 2" EN16T crank but with
only 4 bolts for the 1098 flywheel. It has a pin driven oil pump. The
pistons measure 2.54 just like a 1098. Didn't 2" main 1098s have a
harmonic balancer on the pully? Mini's did.
Is this the "Let's use what's left and what's new" to make the very last
1098?
It has never been apart. all the lock tabs were never undone. All std
bearings and pistons, not too bad for wear, and sludged up like I never
saw before.
It is a rear wheel drive engine and I have to say it is a 1098.
My questions are....
What year/model could this have come out of?
Can I use this 2" crank in a 1275 block but with the 1098 clutch due to
the flywheel bolt pattern?
Can I stick a harmonic balancer on it?
Or does anybody want to buy a 1098?
